Kaiser Permanente LAMC: Acoustic Remedies Volunteers

Russell Education provides private, one-on-one and online tutoring to students at schools in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, and the surrounding suburbs. We work with students in grades K-12 (and some beyond) who need assistance in organization and planning, study skills, subject-area tutoring, and standardized test prep. The tutoring staff includes the Director, David Russell, and a current roster of over 40 other tutors. The team can tutor nearly any subject in grades K-12 (and some college level subjects as well). Many of our tutors come by referral from members of the team. All tutors are interviewed and undergo reference checks. During the intake process, we engage clients in a wide-ranging initial conversation and often gather information from teachers, therapists, and other sources, in order to begin with a clear profile of the student. Tutors keep notes on each of their sessions, which are reviewed periodically. David is available for consultation with parents, tutors, and others on an as-needed basis. A new 12-week, full-time intensive drawing course designed for a small cohort of students who want to develop foundational creative skills and their powers of visual reasoning. Broaden your creative thinking and problem-solving skills through an immersive fine art course tailored to school leavers. Over one term, students will become part of a creative community and learn how drawing can be the starting point for all creative disciplines. Classes include tuition on painting, printmaking and sculpture. This structured, practice-led course has been created to build student's confidence in visual literacy, and to stimulate links between the arts and other disciplines, preparing students for university and professional life. Khan Academy offers free, online practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Our mission is to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. We tackle math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content. We focus on skill mastery to help learners establish strong foundations, so there's no limit to what they can learn next! Courses offered include traditional academic subjects like Math, Science, Engineering, Arts, and Humanities, as well as SAT and AP Test Prep. Khan Academy also offeres courses on College Admission, Career Exploration, Personal Finance and Entrepreneurship.

The mission of Kids' Meals is to end childhood hunger by delivering free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Greater Houston's hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration provide their families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty. More than 20-60 volunteers daily share their time to prepare meals in Kids' Meals' beautiful, centrally located kitchen and YOU can be one of them. Volunteering is a blast! While in the kitchen, volunteers play music, chat, laugh, dance, sing, have sandwich making speed competitions, and have a joyful time while making meals. Other volunteer opportunities include packing, sorting donations, miscellaneous tasks, and more! there's a place for everyone. All volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
