Introduction
Welcome to the ScholarComp community. To ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all members, including students, parents, and staff, we ask that everyone adhere to the following guidelines. Participation in this platform is a privilege, not a right, and we expect all users to engage in a manner that reflects our shared values of respect, integrity, and safety.
1. General Principles
- Be Kind and Respectful: Treat all members with courtesy and respect, even when you disagree. Harassment, bullying, trolling, or any form of hate speech is strictly prohibited.
- Keep it Safe and Secure: Do not share private or sensitive information about yourself or others. This includes full names (beyond your display name), addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or specific locations.
- Follow the Rules: Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as the policies of the institution operating this website.
2. Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary action, including potential removal from the platform and escalation to relevant authorities:
- Harassment and Bullying: Posting content that bullies, harasses, or intimidates another user.
- Hate Speech and Discrimination: Using language that is hateful, discriminatory, or offensive based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Inappropriate Content: Sharing, posting, or linking to sexually explicit, obscene, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Illegal Activities: Promoting, discussing, or engaging in any illegal activities.
- Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, parent, student, or staff member.
- Spam and Self-Promotion: Posting unsolicited commercial messages, advertisements, or excessive self-promotion.
- Disruption: Engaging in actions that disrupt the normal flow of conversation or the functionality of the website (e.g., repeatedly posting off-topic messages, creating multiple accounts).
3. Guidelines for Students
- Be a Digital Citizen: Remember that your online actions reflect on you and your school community. Be mindful of your digital footprint.
- Focus on School-Related Topics: Keep discussions relevant to educational content, assignments, and school events.
- Protect Your Privacy: Do not share login credentials or personal information with anyone.
4. Guidelines for Parents
- Maintain Professionalism: Use the platform for constructive communication related to your child's education and school community matters.
- Direct Concerns Appropriately: If you have specific, private concerns about a student, teacher, or other parent, please contact the appropriate school administration directly rather than posting about it publicly on the forum.
- Respect Privacy: Do not post identifying information about other students or their families.
5. Moderation and Enforcement
- Reporting: If you see content that violates these guidelines, please use the provided reporting tools to flag it for our moderators immediately.
