TrinMaC is a high school math competition run by the Trinity School Math Team in NYC. It offers a free, multi-round contest focusing on critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving with difficulty from early AMC to early AIME levels.
The Trinity Math Competition (TrinMaC) is a free in-person math contest organized by the Trinity School Math Team in New York City, established in 2019 by students. It aims to foster critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and analytical skills among high school students primarily from NYC, but also open worldwide. The contest features multiple rounds—including team, individual, power, and guts rounds—with problems ranging from early AMC to early AIME level, covering algebra, number theory, combinatorics, and geometry.
Preparation: Variable (self-directed problem practice). Competition duration: Approximately 3 to 4 hours, often split into multiple rounds or sessions.
Winners are determined by cumulative scores across several rounds: team round, power round (proof-based), individual round, and a 'guts' round with multiple question sets. Problems are weighted by difficulty with higher-numbered questions worth more points. Teams submit answers electronically or on-site, with scoring done centrally. Highest total team scores across rounds determine winners. The contest emphasizes accuracy and problem-solving skills over speed. Results and solutions are published post-competition.
