The Global Youth Entrepreneur Challenge (GYEC), organized by the Center of Entrepreneurship Development, is a prestigious 12-hour online competition for high school students aged 14 to 18 worldwide. Teams of 3 to 8 members collaborate to develop innovative, science- and technology-based business solutions addressing pressing global social issues like environmental sustainability, education, and social welfare. The competition fosters entrepreneurial mindset, teamwork, and rapid problem-solving skills, emphasizing sustainable innovation to build a better future.
Preparation generally involves forming teams and familiarizing with entrepreneurial concepts before competition day. The competition day itself is a 12-hour continuous online event for ideation, planning, and submission.
Submissions are evaluated by an international panel of judges based on four key criteria: creativity and innovation, finance and production feasibility, marketing strategy, and communication skills in the pitch. The competition has multiple rounds, including a preliminary round and a final round. Teams must excel in the preliminary stage to advance as country representatives to the finals. Judges score each submission and select winners based on overall excellence and impact of the proposed solution.
