An annual in-person STEM competition hosted by Georgia College & State University for middle and high school students from central Georgia to showcase their research projects and advance to higher-level fairs.
The Georgia College & State University Regional Science and Engineering Fair is an annual in-person STEM competition organized by Georgia College & State University. It targets middle and high school students from central Georgia, offering a platform to present original research projects, engage in scientific inquiry, and advance to state and international science fairs. The fair encourages critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration while fostering student confidence in STEM disciplines.
Preparation can span several weeks to months involving research, experimentation, and project development. Competition day generally lasts 6-8 hours including setup, judging, public viewing, and awards ceremony.
Projects are evaluated by volunteer judges from scientific and engineering fields based on criteria including creativity, research quality, presentation skills, and analytical depth. Judging involves assessing the originality of the work, understanding of the scientific method, clarity in communication, and the thoroughness of the project's analysis. Winners are selected through a scoring system and may advance to the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF) and potentially the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF).
