Following contest specifications, each entrant must design and build a device that runs on batteries and performs a practical function. This can include, but is not limited to, devices that educate, entertain, or make life easier in some way. Each entry must be designed and built by a single entrant. Joint entries are not accepted. When requested to send the actual device for final judging, finalists are to send the device in accordance with detailed shipÂ_ ping instructions. Packaging, including boxes and insulating materials, is the responsibility of finalists. Criteria for judging are as follows
