About the competition

The Central NM Science Olympiad is a rigorous academic competition where teams of students compete in a variety of events across disciplines like biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and technology. Teams prepare throughout the year to showcase their knowledge and skills in these hands-on and theoretical events.

Participation Information

Teams must register with the New Mexico State Science Olympiad. Schools can enter up to two teams of 15 students each. Participation in the regional competition is required to qualify for the state finals.
Open to middle and high school students in Central New Mexico.

1. Register a team through the New Mexico State Science Olympiad. 2. Prepare for the regional competition events. 3. Compete at the Central NM Science Olympiad in February.

Judging is based on performance in individual and team events, including written exams, hands-on tasks, and design challenges.
