U.S. high school students create 30-90 second videos about healthy sleep’s importance for teen health and success. Organized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the contest offers cash prizes and recognition to spread awareness about sleep in academics, sports, and safety.
The AASM "Sleep for Success" High School Video Contest is an annual national competition organized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) inviting U.S. high school students to create original 30- to 90-second videos that highlight the importance of healthy sleep for teen success in academics, health, safety, sports, and relationships. The contest fosters creativity, storytelling, and health advocacy among teens while promoting critical awareness about sleep's vital role in physical and mental well-being.
Preparation and video production usually take several weeks depending on the students' schedule; video length is 30-90 seconds. The overall competition from registration to submission spans approximately 2-3 months each year.
Submissions are judged on creativity, originality, clarity of the sleep health message, and impact. Videos are evaluated for how effectively they communicate the importance of healthy sleep for teens in various aspects such as academics, health, and safety. Judges include sleep experts from the AASM. Popularity or public engagement on social platforms may also be considered. Winners are selected based on overall score reflecting creativity, informational content, and engagement.
