About the competition

The Lt. Governor’s Entrepreneurship Challenge is a state-level competition for Rhode Island high school students to develop and pitch business ideas. The competition includes a written business plan and an oral business pitch. The top 5 finalists receive scholarships.

Participation Information

Students submit a detailed business plan, including company logo, mission statement, marketing plan, and market analysis. The top 5 students then present their pitch in the final competition.
Open to Rhode Island high school students in grades 9-12
$10,000 for 1st place, $5,000 for 2nd place; certificates and mentorship opportunities

1. Submit a written business plan by March 24, 2024. 2. Top 5 finalists are announced on April 1. 3. Finalists present their business pitch on April 16, 2024.

Based on innovation, feasibility, quality of the business plan, and effectiveness of the oral pitch.
