About the competition

The Formula Sun Grand Prix is an annual solar car racing event held on closed grand prix or road-style courses. Teams test their vehicles’ handling, braking, and acceleration in a three-day race.

Teams from around the world design and build solar cars to compete in the event. Teams must register and pass the qualification event to enter the cross-country American Solar Challenge.

1. Register for the event. 2. Pass vehicle inspection. 3. Complete as many laps as possible over three days of racing. The fastest lap and multi-occupant categories have additional awards.
Solar car, engineering equipment, race course access
Performance based on total laps completed, fastest lap time, and efficiency of multi-occupant vehicle designs.
