About the competition

The Connecticut Food Business Competition encourages entrepreneurship in the food industry, challenging participants to develop and present their food-based businesses. The competition has three categories: Packaged Food and Beverages, Food Service (Restaurants, Food trucks, Caterers), and Industry-supporting services (e.g., Delivery, Waste reduction, Food Safety).

Participation Information

Participants must be Connecticut residents, students at a Connecticut school, or owners of a startup (sales <$10,000) in Connecticut. They submit applications and, if selected as finalists, deliver a live and virtual presentation.
Open to Connecticut residents, students at Connecticut schools, or owners of a startup in Connecticut.
$1,000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd, and $250 for 3rd; certificates and recognition
Participants must be Connecticut residents, students at a Connecticut school, or owners of a startup (sales <$10,000) in Connecticut. They submit applications and, if selected as finalists, deliver a live and virtual presentation.
1. Submit an application by June 29. 2. If selected as a finalist, prepare a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation and product demo. 3. Present at the Finals on July 11.
Access to product development resources, commercial kitchen vouchers, and mentorship from industry professionals.
Judging is based on product or service innovation, customer validation, management, food safety, margins, and financial strategy.
