About the competition

The Bennington College Young Writers Award promotes outstanding writing achievement at the high school level. Students in grades 9-12 worldwide are invited to submit entries in one of three categories: poetry, short story, or essay. Winners receive cash prizes and scholarships.

1. Choose a category (Poetry, Short Story, or Essay). 2. Write and prepare your entry. 3. Submit the entry online by November 1.
Writing materials, access to submission guidelines on the Bennington College website.
Judging is based on creativity, originality, and quality of writing. Winners are selected in each category by a panel of judges.
