The Discovery Award encourages students to research and tell the stories of Unsung Heroes who have made a positive impact on history. Through this competition, students engage in primary source research and create outstanding projects that celebrate these often-overlooked individuals.

Participation Information
									Students submit their projects online. It is suggested to have project topics pre-approved by emailing the Lowell Milken Center, although this step is not required. Projects are due by July 1, 2025.								
				
									Open to students in grades 4-12 worldwide.								
				
									$2,500 for 1st place, $1,500 for 2nd, $1,000 for 3rd; certificates and recognition

                            Access to research materials, primary sources, and creative tools to develop the project.                        
                    
                            Judging is based on research quality, creativity, storytelling, and the impact of the Unsung Hero featured in the project.
